Delhi Capitals vs Kolkata Knight Riders
12th April 2019, 08:00 PM IST
Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India
Match overview:
The memories of our home match against KKR are still afresh. We won the thrilling match at Kotla in the Super Over and Kagiso Rabada became our hero on the day.
We will be facing the Kolkata-based franchise in their den - the famous Eden Gardens - now. Our boys are confident of adding more points to the tally. They also got a much-needed break of four days after having a hectic schedule early in the tournament.
Another thriller is on the cards as we square off against KKR as both the teams possess match-winning players.
After losing back to back matches against Kings XI and the Sunrisers, the win against RCB has been a big boost of confidence for the boys. Kolkata also pose stiff challenge as the team has been in good form and beating them at Eden would be no easy task. However, Iyer and his troops are raring to make it two wins in two matches.
The pitch at Eden has proved to be paradise for the batsmen. Our hard-hitting batsmen will look to make the most out of the conditions.
Head to Head:
Matches: 24
Won by Delhi Capitals: 10
Won by Kolkata Knight Riders: 13
Tied:1
Form Guide (most recent to oldest):
Delhi Capitals: W L L T L
Kolkata Knight Riders: L W W T W
Key Players To Watch Out For:
Shreyas Iyer has truly led us from the front. Our young skipper has amassed 215 runs in the 6 matches played thus far. He can be expected to play a major role once again in the all-important match against the Shahrukh Khan-owned franchise.
11 wickets from 6 games and the current purple cap holder. All praise made for the way Kagiso Rabada has played in IPL 2019 would seem less. His toe-crushing Yorkers and blistering pace would be much needed in giving us an early breakthrough against KKR. The hosts have dangerous opening batsmen so Rabada must play a pivotal role and lead the bowling attack from the front.
Robin Uthappa has played a few handy cameos and scored one half century as well in his campaign thus far. KKR's top-order batsman could not do much damage in their previous match against CSK. The top-order batsman is a vital cog in the KKR line-up. It is imperative for our bowlers to get rid of him early on.
Nitish Rana played two magnificent knocks (of 68 runs and 63 runs) in his initial two matches of IPL 2019. The 25-year-old played a good hand of 37 against RCB as well. However, Rana got out on a duck in the match against CSK and will look to bounce back strongly which makes him a dangerous player.
Final Thoughts:
We are currently placed at the 6th position on the IPL 2019 table with 3 wins and as many losses from 6 matches. On the other hand, the hosts are at the 2nd position on the table with 4 wins and 2 losses from their 6 games. A win in the upcoming match is likely to put us back in the top 4 so Shreyas Iyer and his troops will be leaving no stone unturned against KKR.
