DC Corporate Cup 2019: Week 4 Round-Up

The final set of fixtures in the group stage of the DC Corporate Cup 2019 got underway on November 2, with eight fixtures being played through the weekend.

Saturday, November 2 (Day 1):

The morning session saw Pavna and KTC register victories in their final fixtures.

In a high-scoring encounter, Pavna posted a massive 205/5 in their 20 overs, with Gaurav Kumar leading the charge with an unbeaten 87 off just 32 balls. In reply, KTC put together a valiant effort but eventually fell short by 20 runs.

In the parallel game, Daikin’s choice to bowl first backfired as KTC managed to post a competitive 164/6. Akshay anchored the innings with his innings of 52 from 46 balls. KTC’s bowlers proved to be too much to handle foe the opposition as Daikin were beaten by 29 runs.

Accenture needed a win to stay on top of their group and they just did that, managing a narrow win over Amex Corp. The former finished on 120/8 in their 20 overs and managed to bowl out the opposition for 104. Dev picked up the player of the match award with his 3/30.

Royal Stag stunned JSW with an incredible performance with the bat, posting 251/7. The latter just couldn’t get going in their innings, courtesy of Dharmender’s incredible spell of 7 for 5. Royal Stag won the game by 155 runs.

Sunday, November 3 (Day 3):

The lone fixture in the morning session on Sunday saw the bowlers dominate the batsmen.

Buddy Retail managed just 90 for 8 in the shortened 12-over game, which was chased down by Muthoot for the loss of just one wicket in 6.5 overs.

The afternoon session saw a mixed bag, with both ball and bat having their say.

Amex GBT posted 206/4 in their 20 overs. MetLife never got going and were restricted to 114/9 at the end of their quota. Piyush Arora earned the player of the match for his all-round effort of 36 from 21 balls and 3/14.

Ground 2 saw KTC bundled out for 110 and EY chased down the target in just 10.5 overs with 9 wickets to spare. Imran was given the player of the match honours for his 4/22.

PolicyBazaar.com took on Daikin on Ground 3 and the former went on to post a competitive 183/4, with Amir top-scoring with an unbeaten 83 off 47 balls. Daikin never threatened the target and ended up on 108/9.

What’s Next?

The final week will see Amex GBT taking on EY in the first semi-final, followed by Accenture going up against Pavna in the second on Saturday (November 9). The final will be played on Sunday.
