From Andhra, to Delhi – the journey of Hanuma Vihari, Bandaru Ayyappa

It is interesting how a moment can change one’s life in the blink of an eye. They say hard-work pays off, and the hard-work put in by Bandaru Ayyappa and Hanuma Vihari lifted their career to add Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 in their resume - with successful bids from Delhi Capitals.

It is a beginning for all three – the club which is trying to see Delhi through brand new sunglasses, for Hanuma, who has had a proud moment representing his country in Tests and for Bandaru, who will now be groomed alongside the finest from the world.

Andhra, the Ranji side, reminds the hardcore cricket fans of India of some stylish shots in Test cricket. Hanuma carries the glimpses of that class, the calm of a similar sort and promise to grow up to a magnificent pair of hands who can handle the pressure well. The 25-year-old has been a consistent No. 3 and a captain for his state, scoring over 5000 runs in his First-Class career so far, at an astonishing 58.71.

However, this was not his first time in the IPL auctions. He has appeared before, in 2013 and 2015, but not after. Hanuma went on to prepare himself for something even better– to brush up his skills and come out as a cricketer of finest of qualities and we knew, it was about time he entered the world of IPL again.

Similar to this is the story of Bandaru, who has accomplished great heights in his domestic career – but this will be his first season in the extravaganza. A guy whom Sportstar termed as a ‘gentleman fast bowler’, Bandaru’s deadly bouncers have helped him scalp 76 wickets in his 28-match First-Class career. In List A as well as domestic T20s, Bandaru has maintained a decent rate. The common factor between him and Hanuma – the calmness they both ooze off while in action. A quality contrary to the ever-excited Delhi clan, we are sure this will strike the perfect balance in the squad.

Under the guidance of Ricky Ponting, Mohammad Kaif and Praveen Amre, our Andhra pair has a brilliant opportunity to flourish into the fine cricketers they have shown the promise to be.

PS: Hanuma maintains a funny side too. Check out his witty replies here:
