Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad
4th April 2019, 08:00 PM IST
Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, India
Match overview:
The opponents for our 5th encounter of IPL 2019 are Sunrisers Hyderabad. It will be our 3rd fixture at home. The Hyderabad-based franchise are currently placed 3rd on the table while we sit at 5th place.
There are a lot of talented players in the arsenal of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Last year’s finalists are the team to beat this year. Especially their openers, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow, have been in scintillating form and played some fantastic knocks.
Our bowlers must get rid of the juggernaut pair quickly and then test SRH's untested middle order. It is going to be an interesting battle between our speedster Rabada and the SRH’s opening duo.
Backed by home support at Qila Kotla, our boys will be looking to bounce back after facing a tough defeat to Kings XI Punjab away at Mohali. We have won 2 out of the previous 5 matches played against the Sunrisers.
The positive takeaway from the match against the Punjab-based franchise was that it made us aware of the middle order woes early in the tournament. The coaches along with Iyer will aim to plug this hole in the match against a rampant SRH side and have all the bases covered.
We have 2 wins and as many losses in IPL 2019 while Kane Williamson's troops have 2 wins and a loss in 3 matches thus far. Discipline, patience and composure will be key in the upcoming fixture as the Kotla pitch is slow. The focus will again be on the spinners.
Putting the match against KXIP behind and focusing on the game ahead is imperative. For us, it is time to Roar back into the tournament!

Key Players To Watch Out For:
Rishabh Pant's IPL 2019 got off to a brilliant start as he blasted an unbeaten 78 from 27 deliveries against Mumbai Indians in our opening game. The young southpaw has a couple of good starts after that as well. He will be raring to show more maturity in the upcoming game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and bat till the very end of the innings.
Our wicketkeeper-batsman also smashed a memorable century the last time we met SRH at Feroz Shah Kotla. He scored an unbeaten 128 off just 63 deliveries. The knock included 7 sixes and 15 fours, and it remains his highest IPL score till date.
Amit Mishra is 1 wicket away from getting to 150 IPL wickets. Our veteran spinner would not only want to get to the landmark figure in the game against SRH but lead by example and show all his experience by putting up a fantastic performance on the spin-friendly Kotla pitch.
After picking up 2 wickets against KXIP in the previous match, Sandeep Lamichhane is currently the highest wicket-taker in T20s in 2019 with 27 wickets to his name. The young spinner from Nepal has shown tremendous promise in the two matches he has played. Another good outing against SRH can be expected from Sandeep.
We must be wary of Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan in the upcoming match. The Afghanistan duo have plenty of experience under their belt and are lethal spinners. Nabi is known to pack a punch with the bat as well.
Rashid has taken 2 wickets in three matches played thus far and been extremely economical. Nabi, on the other hand, made the most of the opportunity he got against RCB. In his first game of the campaign, the 34-year-old took 4 wickets and gave away just 11 runs in 4 overs.
David Warner and Jonny Bairstow wreaked havoc in SRH's previous game against RCB. 118, 110, 185 - SRH's opening pair have had a partnership in excess of 100 in all their games of IPL 2019. Both got centuries in the previous match against RCB and it will be imperative for our boys to get rid of them in the powerplay itself.
Final Thoughts:
The objective for tomorrow is clear for our DC boys; apply the pressure on the #OrangeArmy and grab maximum points at Qila Kotla to tighten the Top 4 race.
