DC Corporate Cup 2019: Week 1 Round-Up

DC Corporate Cup 2019 got underway on October 5, with eight fixtures being played through the first weekend of the tournament.

Saturday, October 5 (Day 1):

The opening day of the DC Corporate Cup saw GMR vs Amex GBT and Policy Bazaar taking on KTC in the morning session.

The fixture on Ground 1 unfolded to be a low-scoring encounter, with Amex GBT bowling out GMR for just 73. Nadhishwar’s 3 for 9 was the standout performance as Amex GBT ran down the score in just 10.3 overs.

In the parallel game, Policy Bazaar opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted a competitive 182 for 8, with Rajdeep Mor’s 45 as the top score. But the player of the match honour was taken by Aman Dhall, who picked up 4/20, helping his side restrict KTC to just 94.

EY took on Daikin in the evening session at Ground 1 and opted to bat on winning the toss. The former posted 168 at the end of their 20 overs on the back of a quick-fire 45 from Ashish Yadav. Daikin failed to get close to the target, eventually bundling out for 120 in 17.2 overs.

Match 4 saw Pavna register a 99-run win over Muthoot on Ground 2. Batting first, Pavna posted a massive 216 for 8 in their 20 overs. Ajit Saxena produced an incredible spell of 5 for 8 to lead his side to victory as Muthoot were bundled out for 117. In a rare T20 occurrence, we saw two five-wicket hauls in the same game, with Tejas Babu’s fifer unfortunately coming in a losing cause.

Sunday, October 6 (Day 2):

While Day 1 was dominated by the bowlers, Day 2 was a mixed bag, with both skillsets having their say.

The first game on Sunday on Ground 1 saw JSW take on Accenture, and it turned out to be a one-sided affair, courtesy of Ravi Dutt’s five-wicket haul. His 5 for 6 was instrumental in bowling out JSW for 61 in 12.3 overs. Accenture lost just one scalp in their innings, completing the run-chase in 6.5 overs.

Ground 2 saw an incredible game, with Sapient scoring a massive 273 for 7 in their 20 overs, with Shantanu Dabas scoring an unbeaten 78 in just 26 balls. Buddy Retail managed just 72 before getting bowled out and suffering a 201-run loss.

The evening session saw Amex Corp take on Royal Stag on Ground 1. The former posted 205 for 7 at the end of their quota of overs, with Harsh Kumar scoring 77 off 45 balls. Royal Stag were bowled out for just 86 in 12 overs, handing the Amex Corp a 119-run win.

Match 8 saw Khabri Audio take on MetLife in what eventually turned out to be another one-sided affair. Khabri Audio were dismissed for 79 in 18 overs, with Rakesh Mahor taking 4 for 7. MetLife smashed their way to the target, taking just 5.4 overs to complete the run-chase.

Week 2 will see 8 teams take each other on an action-packed Saturday, with five of the teams looking to set the ball rolling and get the 3 points up against their name on the points table!
