Match Preview | #DCvSRH | It's now or never as we take on Sunrisers in the Eliminator!

AS THINGS STAND

After the conclusion of 14 matches, we finished third in the league stage and had the same number of points (18) as MI and CSK but these two teams finished ahead of us due to a better Net Run Rate.

Regardless, we are ready to play the Eliminator. The boys are full of confidence having won 4 of our previous 5 matches. The winning momentum is on our side.

SRH finished fourth in the league stage with 12 points. KKR and Kings XI Punjab also had 12 points, but the Hyderabad-based franchise scraped through to the playoffs due to a better NRR. This is the first time in IPL history that a team has managed to qualify for playoffs with just 12 points.

Kane Williamson and co. have lost four of their previous five matches.

B) Form Guide:

Delhi Capitals: W L W W W

Sunrisers Hyderabad: L L W L L

C) Approaching Milestones:

4: more sixes required by Shikhar Dhawan to complete 100 sixes in the IPL.

5: more wickets required by Amit Mishra to complete 100 wickets for Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

14: runs required by Shikhar Dhawan to complete 500 runs this IPL.

100: Shreyas Iyer will be playing his 100th T20 match.

74: more runs required by Shreyas Iyer to complete 1000 T20 runs this year (will become the first batsman to do so in 2019 in T20s)

THE GAME-CHANGERS

Our leading run-scorer in the tournament, Shikhar Dhawan, will take centre stage against SRH. He is also one of the most experienced openers in such pressure encounters.

Gabbar has played for SRH in the past and knows quite a few of their players well. This is another advantage for him, and he will be well equipped to tackle them. The 33-year-old has 486 runs from 14 matches played thus far. He also has five fifties and will certainly be looking to add another in the eliminator.

Shreyas Iyer has played quite a few captain's knocks and led us from the front. Rishabh Pant’s ability to score at a blistering pace would also be at the forefront at Vizag.

After being out of touch with the bat, Kane Williamson found some form by scoring 70 off 43 deliveries in SRH's last group match against RCB. The opposition skipper must be kept quiet in the all-important Eliminator.

Khaleel Ahmed and Rashid Khan have been brilliant with the ball for SRH. Khaleel has made 17 scalps in just 8 matches played. Afghanistan's Rashid Khan has 15 wickets from 14 matches but more importantly, he has kept the opposition batsmen quiet by bowling economically.

Final Thoughts:
DC boys will aim to get past tomorrow’s hurdle with a complete performance to face-off with Chennai Super Kings in the Qualifier 2!

Probable Starting XI:

Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rishabh Pant (WK), Colin Ingram, Sherfane Rutherford, Axar Patel, Keemo Paul/Chris Morris, Trent Boult, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma

*The above playing XI is just an educated judgement. The final playing XI always rests in the hands of the Team Management.
