Our DC boys ready for the Orange Army challenge in Hyderabad

Match Details:

Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

14th April 2019, 08:00 PM IST

Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad, India

Match overview:

Our last couple of games - against Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders - have been exceptional. The two wins have helped us in getting back the momentum and lit up the dressing room as well.

Next up, we square off against Sunrisers Hyderabad in what will be the 30th match of IPL 2019. The tournament has entered a crucial phase and it is imperative for us to keep winning to ensure we are always in the running for the Top 4.

Overall, we have 4 wins out of a total of 7 matches played while the Hyderabad-based franchise has been triumphant in 3 out of 6 games they have played. Ponting's troops are looking forward to making it 3 wins on the trot while SRH will be looking to bounce back after losing their last 2 games.

Our boys will need to be wary of the opposition's bowling line-up as it is considered one of the best in the IPL. Shikhar Dhawan is back in top-notch form and players like Shaw, Pant, and skipper Iyer are also in good nick. The battle between our batsmen and SRH bowlers will be an interesting one to watch.

Jonny Bairstow and David Warner have accounted for most of the runs for the Sunrisers. The boys will have to put together a strategy and send these two back to the pavilion early in the innings.

A flat track is expected at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium which means that batsmen will take centrestage.

Form Guide (most recent to oldest):

Delhi Capitals: W W L L T

Sunrisers Hyderabad: L L W W W

Key Players To Watch Out For:

Shikhar Dhawan is back to his blistering best. Our southpaw played plenty of good cameos in this edition. However, he won everyone's hearts when played he played a match-winning knock of 97* against KKR in the previous match. Shikhar will be raring to show his experience once again and guide the team to victory against SRH. Performing well against his former team is something he will be looking forward to as well.

Rishabh Pant also played an extremely sensible knock against KKR. He played with maturity and put together a brilliant 105-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan. Our young Wicketkeeper batsman certainly provides the X-factor in the side and is famous for his ferocious big-hitting. However, it was refreshing to see another side of his game when he made those 46 runs against KKR at Eden Gardens. His knock oozed class as he timed it superbly.

Kane Williamson is match fit again and is set to make a return to the SRH's playing XI. The Kiwi batsman has only played one match for the Sunrisers in the tournament thus far. He will be looking to lead from the front on his return to the team and make a significant impact with the bat.

David Warner is the current Orange Cap holder. The hard-hitting Aussie batsman has amassed 349 runs in 6 matches at an average of 87.25 and phenomenal strike rate of 146.63. He has already made 3 fifties and has also scored a century.

The New South Wales-born player scored 70 runs off 62 deliveries in the previous match against the Kings XI. The strike rate of this knock was unlike his natural game. Warner got the runs, but he will be disappointed he did not get them quick enough and the Sunrisers could only manage a modest total of 150. Keeping him quiet will be a challenge our bowlers will be keen to take on.

Final Thoughts:

The last time we squared off against the Orange Army was at home in Kotla. SRH won that game by 5 wickets and 9 balls to spare.

Tom Moody's troops had snatched the 2 points and the call of the occasion is to make things even now. Our DC boys will make sure they rise to it!
