The Christmas week was great in terms of performance by our Delhi Capitals boys as they shone in their respective matches.
Our captain Shreyas Iyer maintained his consistency for Mumbai. After a 178-run knock against Baroda, he again gave Mumbai a major boost in Ranji Trophy 2018-19, scoring a gritty 83 against Saurashtra.
Our young speedster Avesh Khan shone in Ranji Trophy, too. He registered figures of 6 for 51, clearing opponents’ top-order completely, in the second innings for Madhya Pradesh.
Captain Harshal Patel led his side Haryana by example, standing like a rock and scoring a half-century against Rajasthan as the rest of the batting tumbled. Ankush Bains impressed as he remained unbeaten at 64 to help Himachal Pradesh draw with Tamil Nadu.
With his brilliant spell of 6 for 30, Trent Boult put New Zealand as they played Sri Lanka in the Boxing-day Test. He got rid of the entire middle and lower-middle order, bagging all six wickets in 15 balls and conceding just 4 runs for the last 5 wickets.
Kagiso Rabada had a fruitful outing against a visiting Pakistan side as well. In the Boxing-day Test at Centurion, he first dismissed Babar Azam in the both the innings, and also got captain Sarfraz in the second. He registered figures of 6 for 106 as South Africa won the series-opener.
Sandeep Lamichhane is having a gala time in Australia playing in BBL. He has shown immense consistency for Melbourne Stars, and is leading the wicket-takers’ chart with figures of 2 for 18, 3 for 24 and 2 for 36 in the three matches this week.
While Sherfane Rutherford made his international debut for WIndies this week, in the same series against Bangladesh, Keemo Paul bowled a record-breaking spell to become the youngest to take a fifer for West Indies in T20Is. He also picked up 7 wickets and scored 59 runs as his side won the T20I series 2-1.
Three of our lads – Hanuma Vihari, Rishabh Pant and Ishant Sharma are currently a part of India’s playing eleven for the Boxing-day Test against Australia.
