Our boys are back at Qila Kotla to face Kolkata Knight Riders for our next match in the TATA Indian Premier League 2023.

Still looking for our first win of the tournament, David Warner and the team will be eager to topple the knights and there’s no better place to do that than our very own fortress, in the presence of our fans, our DC Toli.

In what has been a close rivalry since the first season, we have won 14 out of our 30 matches against KKR, while losing 16. However, our boys did pull off a convincing double against Kolkata last season.

This will surely make our boys believe in themselves more, as they seek to turn around our season with their eyes set on getting our first win.

Players to watch out for

David Warner

Our Skipper boasts a terrific record against KKR, scoring 1018 runs in 26 matches against them at an outstanding average of 44.26. This is Warner’s highest runs tally against any opponent in the competition. Only Rohit Sharma (1040 runs in 32 outings) has scored more runs against the Kolkata outfit in the IPL than Warner.

Warner has also been our top run-scorer in IPL 2023 with 228 runs from five matches.

Kuldeep Yadav

The spin master almost turned the game in our favour against RCB in our last match with a magical double-wicket maiden. Kuldeep also wreaked havoc against KKR, his former team, last season, picking up eight wickets whilst giving away just 49 runs across the two matches.

Key battles

Manish Pandey vs Sunil Narine

Manish Pandey marked a return to form with a well-made 50 against RCB in the last match and will look to give some much-needed stability to our middle order once again.

His ability to tackle KKR bowling lynchpin Sunil Narine may prove decisive in swinging the contest in our favour.

Venkatesh Iyer vs Mitchell Marsh

Impact player Venkatesh Iyer’s century couldn’t earn KKR a victory over MI in their last match, but his knock certainly made him a contender to be in the fray against us. The Madhya Pradesh player cannot be allowed to settle in as he did against MI and Mitchell Marsh’s ability to provide crucial breakthroughs may prove pivotal for us.

Marsh came back into the team against RCB after missing two matches due to his wedding and pitched in with two important wickets, including Faf du Plessis’ crucial scalp.
