Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings

26th March 2019, 08:00 PM IST

Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, India

Match overview:

Our 2019 VIVO IPL campaign kick started on a positive note as we won our first away fixture.

Dhawan made a handy contribution of 43 runs and Colin Ingram’s quickfire 47 off 32 deliveries was also magnificent. The two laid the foundation for Rishabh to come out all guns blazing and unleash the fireworks.

Pant made short work of Mumbai Indians' bowlers and smashed the ball to all sides of the park at Wankhede. The youngster scored an unbeaten 78 runs off 27 deliveries. His blitzkrieg knock guided Delhi Capitals to 213/6 in 20 overs.

Ishant and Rabada did the job for us with the ball and took two wickets each. Mumbai Indians were bowled out for 176 runs.

A good team effort helped us clinch our first win.

However, another stiff challenge awaits us in the form of CSK. The MS Dhoni-led side is the most successful team in the IPL. They won the season opener against RCB by 7 wickets.

Our upcoming match is bound to be intense with both the teams coming into the encounter off wins.

Key Players To Watch Out For:

Rishabh Pant played an absolute blinder against MI. The 21-year-old will be raring to continue the good show - especially at #QilaKotla - in front of the home crowd.

Kagiso Rabada was just fantastic against MI. The fiery bowler finished the match with the figures 2 for 23 in 4 overs. He clinched the wickets of well-set Yuvraj Singh and dangerous Ben Cutting. The Johannesburg-born players' blistering pace can have a major role to play against the experienced CSK batsmen.

CSK is an IPL heavyweight and has some key players whom we must be wary of:

The veteran Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir spun a web around the RCB batsmen. Bhajji clinched the wickets of Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Moeen Ali. Tahir was fantastic as well and ended with the figures 3/9 in 4 overs. The 39-year-old bowled a maiden over as well - something which is not often seen in T20 cricket.

Harbhajan also boasts of a fantastic record against Delhi Capitals. The spin maestro has a commendable 21 wickets in 19 matches against us. He also has an exceptional economy rate of 6.82.

Final Thoughts:

The last time CSK played us at Kotla, we handed them a 34-run defeat. We have won 2 out of the previous 3 matches against CSK. However, the Dhoni-led unit has a much better head-to-head record. Skipper Iyer will be looking to lead from the front and guide the team to a second consecutive win to keep the momentum going.
