Starting off the second leg of WPL 2024 on a positive note, Meg Lanning's side recorded a 29-run win against the Mumbai Indians in our first home game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

After a resounding victory against the reigning champions, the girls will be back in action against the UP Warriorz. We head into the game on a positive note, recording four wins in a row, which includes a massive nine-wicket victory against the UP Warriorz in the first leg of matches in Bengaluru.

Here are some key things you need to know going into this special game on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

Players to watch out for

Meg Lanning

Lanning continues to be a captain who leads from the front. She has already scored over 200 runs in the ongoing WPL 2024 and has made her presence felt in the tournament. The seven-time World Champion also boasts a fantastic average of 53.3 against the UP Warriorz scoring 160 runs in 3 innings so far. She will be eager to get going once again at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and come out all guns blazing against the UP Warriorz.

Jess Jonassen

Jess Jonassen has easily been the standout player for the Delhi Capitals this season. Despite playing only three matches so far, the Australian cricketer has taken the most wickets for her side.

Sitting with nine wickets against her name, Jess has three 3-wicket hauls and holds the purple cap after our last win. Recording an impressive average of 7.11 alongside an economy of 5.44, Jonassen will be eager to continue building on such excellent performances.

Radha Yadav

Radha Yadav claimed the wickets of Grace Harris, Shweta Sehrawat, Kiran Navgire, and Sophie Eccelstone while conceding only 20 runs in her four-over spell during our previous clash against UP Warriorz earlier in the season. The left-arm spinner has not only been among the wickets but has also been economical with her spells in the middle overs. Her ability to cramp the opposing batters will be a key factor for us in the fifth game of the tournament.

Key Player Battles:

Alice Capsey vs Sophie Ecclestone

The young English all-rounder has been fantastic with the bat for the Delhi Capitals. Currently the second-highest run scorer for her side, the No. 3 batter has been instrumental in our success. She will be all set to take on her fellow friend Sophie Ecclestone in the upcoming match.

The UP Warriorz star has claimed seven wickets in five games and is in the running to win the purple cap.The bowler has an excellent record against Capsey, dismissing her twice in five innings. It would be interesting to see who comes out on top when friends turn into foes for this upcoming clash.

Radha Yadav vs Alyssa Healy

Radha Yadav’s fairytale outing with the ball has played a crucial role in the team’s winning streak. She has been excellent with the ball taking timely wickets while also bowling economical spells. Lanning will rely on her once again to dismiss Alyssa Healy as the DC star boasts an amazing record of sending the Aussie star back in the hut twice in four innings.

However, It is also worth noting that the UP Warriorz skipper boasts a strike rate of 153 against Radha and has managed to squeeze runs out of her. While Radha will look to claim the prized wicket for the third time, Healy will aim to come out all guns blazing. This individual contest will surely be an enticing encounter.
