The Delhi Capitals fell agonizingly short against the Gujarat Titans, suffering a heartbreaking 1-run loss in a nail-biting contest that went right down to the final delivery. The boys in red and blue put up a tough fight and played out of their skin.
For the third game in a row, Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first. Gujarat got off to a strong start, with Jos Buttler scoring a quick 52. Shubman Gill and Washington Sundar then added a big partnership to keep the momentum going. For DC, Lungi Ngidi impressed again, bowling at an economy rate of 6 and taking a wicket. Gujarat finished on 210/4, leaving the Capitals needing 211 to win.
DC’s openers KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka got off the blocks quickly, taking the fight to the GT bowlers. Nissanka picked up right where he left off from his previous game, racing to 41 runs in just 24 balls. However, the star of the show was KL Rahul who signalled a strong return to his best. He anchored the innings, putting the pressure on the opposition and accelerating his way to a phenomenal knock of 92 runs in 52 balls.
KL was joined at the crease for a while by David Miller who unfortunately picked up an injury on his hand, cutting short his stay. However, injury couldn’t keep him out of the game as he returned at 160/5 and scored an electrifying innings of 41 runs to almost take the team over the line.
Delhi will look to bounce back strongly against the Chennai Super Kings on the 11th of April as they begin a Southern Tour of the country.
