It was a challenging night in Hyderabad as the Delhi Capitals lost by 47 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Despite a strong fight from the boys in blue and red, the result unfortunately, was not in their favour.

Axar Patel won the toss for the sixth game straight and chose to field first. Abhishek Sharma batted superbly and scored 135 runs. His knock, accompanied by Klaasen and Kishan, resulted in SRH setting a total of 242, leaving DC requiring 243 runs to win.

Chasing a steep target, Delhi Capitals responded with intent. KL Rahul and Nitish Rana laid a strong foundation, stitching together an 86-run opening stand and taking the attack to the opposition during the powerplay. Rana, in particular, looked in fine touch, crafting a fluent 57 before his departure halted the early momentum.

The middle overs saw a spirited effort to keep the chase alive. Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs combined effectively, adding a valuable 59-run partnership for the fourth wicket and briefly shifting the pressure back onto the hosts. However, with the required rate climbing, the Capitals found themselves needing something special in the closing stages.

Rizvi battled on till the end, but the target remained just out of reach as Hyderabad held their nerve to secure the win.

The Capitals now wrap up their southern leg and head back home, where they’ll take on Punjab Kings at Kotla on May 25, looking to reset and get back on track.
