After a valiant fight against the Lucknow Super Giants, the DC Tigers are ready to roar again as they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad for the first time this season. It will be an exciting contest as both the teams are coming out of a defeat in high scoring games, and will be looking to bounce right back.
The clash against Hyderabad will be of vital importance for DC as a win will get us close to the top 4. David Warner reckons we’ve got our task cut out going forward.
“I think, you look at the results we’ve just missed out when we are chasing those big totals which we have managed to chase and get so close, they are the ones that hurt you and moving forward from where we are, we’ve obviously gotta win every game to make it to the finals.”
Back to the Brabourne
The Delhi Capitals are heading back to their beloved Brabourne Stadium for this one-off encounter against the Men in Orange, a venue where we have won all three of our games so far in IPL 2022.
The first win saw us complete a heist against MI in our season opener, the second one saw us get the better of KKR with a Shaw-Warner special up top followed by the Kuldeep show, and the third win came against PBKS courtesy of a combined bowling effort and a chase at a canter.
The DC Men in Blue will be confident that such a crucial encounter in the context of the tournament comes at a venue they are so comfortable with.
Stat Attack
A century of IPL wickets awaits Axar Patel, as he finds himself the one solitary wicket away from the feat. Mustafizur Rahman on the other hand finds himself just the one wicket away from a staggering 250 T20 wickets.
The skipper Rishabh Pant has been scoring valuable cameos while the big score still remains due. He is 56 runs short of 4000 T20 runs.
With 17 wickets in 8 innings, the left arm unorthodox bowler Kuldeep Yadav is joint-second on the list for the Purple Cap. His quota of 4 overs will be pivotal for Delhi Capitals as with the current form, he can be a game changer targeting the star wickets.
Key Battles
Warner vs Bhuvneshwar
The swing bowler against the in-form opener, this early powerplay battle could hold key in either of the teams gaining some momentum through the rest of the innings.
Williamson vs Kuldeep
The joint second-highest wicket-taker this season so far, Kuldeep Yadav has a good record against the SRH skipper Kane Williamson. The tweaker has dismissed him twice in the IPL while giving away just 39 runs off 32 balls. If he can get the better of him once again, it will be a huge battle won for the Capitals.
Rishabh Pant vs Umran Malik
Umran Malik has bowled with lethal pace, but in Rishabh Pant he will meet a challenger who will take on fire with fire. A mouth-watering contest awaits as both the players will be hungry for more.
