DC Ready To Do Another Double Over The Royals in Two Years

As the tournament progresses in the second half and teams prepare for levelling their scores in their second leg, we clash against the Rajasthan Royals who have their morale boosted with nail-biting victory against Sunrisers in the last match. An injury scare with Rishabh Pant missing out for some days and Ishant Sharma missing out on the entire tournament, we will aim to keep our position firm on top half of the table by dusting off our last over loss against the Mumbai Indians at Abu Dhabi on Sunday and focusing on a complete performance in Dubai!

Dubai – Tough conditions for the batters

Over the weeks, the pitch at Dubai International Stadium has slowed down assisting the bowlers with an extra bounce and swing in the first half. With enough help for the bowlers with movement off the surface, batsmen would be on their toes during the powerplay. For both the teams, having wickets in the hand and unleashing the attack in the middle overs would be a crucial factor for a good score at Dubai.

With great depth in the batting line-up, we have an upper hand on the Royals who are relying on the middle order comprising of Rahul Tewatia, Riyan Parag and Sanju Samson. Moreover, with Shikhar Dhawan reviving his form in the last match, DC has their batting line-up beefed up with the middle order comprising of Shreyas Iyer and Marcus Stoinis being in the thick of runs in the last few games.

Stat Attack

  • Shikhar Dhawan who broke multiple records in the last encounter against Mumbai Indians, will look to better his record and surpass Suresh Raina’s record for the most number of IPL fifties by an Indian. The southpaw currently has 38 fifties in the IPL.
  • Prithvi Shaw who has been DC’s second-best run getter in this IPL 2020, has a current strike rate of 150.74, which is second best in the DC side.
  • Shaw and Skipper Shreyas, who have always been good players of spin will aim to exploit Gopal and Tewatia in the middle overs.
  • Akshar Patel who is yet to concede a six in this season will be crucial with his left arm spin against the RR batting lineup in the middle overs.

    ● All-rounder Harshal Patel with his figures of 1-29 in the last game, is just a couple of wickets shy from getting 100 T20 wickets.

    ● Kagiso Rabada who has maintained his record with at least two wickets in last 22 matches is just a couple of wickets away from taking 50 wickets for DC.

Shreyas Iyer vs Jofra Archer

Skipper Shreyas has been timing the ball well off late will be eager to face the challenge against the raw pace of Jofra Archer. The English pacer who would love to unleash his yorkers, will have a huge task ahead with Shreyas showing signs of some clinical textbook batting in the past few games

Marcus Stoinis vs Ben Stokes

2 of the world’s best all-rounders clash! Yes, this clash would be nothing short of an interesting battle with both the bat and ball. Marcus Stoinis and Ben Stokes who bat at the same position and bowl with same pace, meet for the first time against each other in IPL 2020.
