DC vs CSK | Delhi Capitals target first win in their first home game at Vizag

Despite commendable performances against Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals did not maximise the opportunities in their two matches in IPL 2024. The focus now shifts to the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, where we will play our first home game against in-form Chennai Super Kings.

Our captain, Rishabh Pant, reflected on the loss against Rajasthan Royals in the post-match interview and sent a strong message to the team to start afresh in their first home game against the table toppers, Chennai Super Kings, in Vizag.

The Capitals had their pre-season training in Vizag. After playing two away matches, Rishabh Pant and Co. are back in the port city for their first home game of IPL 2024.

Players to watch out for:

David Warner:

David Warner is well-known for his quickfire starts with the bat. The Aussie was in fabulous touch in our last game. Though he missed on a well-deserved fifty, Warner laid a solid foundation for us in the run chase.

Tristan Stubbs:

Tristan Stubbs, a youngster playing just his sixth IPL match, took charge in #RRvDC with a whirlwind knock in the Pink City, showing great character and keeping us in the hunt till the last over.

Axar Patel:

While all our bowlers got a wicket, Axar Patel was the most economical. Axar controlled the flow of runs in the middle overs and increased the pressure on the Royals batters. Our all-rounder dismissed Ravichandran Ashwin, who was threatening to play a whirlwind knock on Thursday.

Khaleel Ahmed:

Khaleel Ahmed showcased his prowess in the powerplay against the Royals. The left-arm pacer didn’t allow the batters to score freely, conceding only 24 runs in four overs while taking the prized scalp of Sanju Samson. With his skillset, Khaleel will be of great importance against CSK.

Battle of the biggies:

David Warner vs Ravindra Jadeja

Warner has always been on top of his game against Ravindra Jadeja. Our opener has scored 101 runs in 58 balls that he has faced in six innings, striking at 174.13 without getting dismissed even once. The Capitals will need Warner’s presence in the middle overs to negate the threat of the Super Kings’ spinners.

Rishabh Pant vs Mustafizur Rahman

Rishabh Pant, the leader of our pack, has been fearless against the CSK pacer Mustafizur Rahman. They have faced each other in six innings, wherein Pant has scored 59 runs off 37 balls at a strike rate of 159.45. He has been dismissed only once in this matchup.

Khaleel Ahmed vs Ruturaj Gaikwad

Khaleel, who was exceptional for us in the previous game, has also been effective against the newly appointed CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad. They have faced off four times in previous encounters and Khaleel has been brilliant, conceding only 15 runs in 22 balls.

Anrich Nortje vs M.S. Dhoni

Our express pace bowler, Anrich Nortje, has managed to trouble M.S. Dhoni in the previous faceoffs. They have been up against each other five times and Nortje has given away only 14 runs in 13 balls while bagging his wicket once too.
