DC vs SRH | Delhi Capitals aim to continue the momentum in their first game in Delhi

Delhi Capitals have been on top of their game in the last few matches. We are halfway through the tournament and the boys will be raring to go in their first home game at Delhi against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, starting at 7:30 PM IST. The squad is full of confidence and would look to clinch their third successive win in the season.

Ricky Ponting summed up the performance in the biggest win, in terms of balls remaining in our IPL history and honoured our best performers with medals.

Mukesh Kumar reflected on heading home after two crucial away wins in Lucknow and Ahmedabad.

Skipper Rishabh Pant expressed his emotions and what keeps him going on the field.

Explosive openers:

Our openers from the previous game, Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser-McGurk (JFM) are known for playing fearless cricket.

Prithvi Shaw has amassed 158 runs in five matches and he has an average of 31.60 with the bat. Shaw has an impressive strike rate of 154.90.

JFM has played only two matches in the season and has never looked uncomfortable against any bowler he has faced. The hard hitter of the cricket ball has scored 75 runs with an excellent strike rate of 166.66.

Rishabh Pant:

The southpaw has been our stand-out batter and has scored 210 runs so far. Pant has been one of our reliable batters in the middle order who knows the art of keeping the scoreboard moving in any sort of situation.

Tristan Stubbs:

Stubbs has been a class act in this campaign. He has produced 189 runs in the season and has the best average (63) and strike rate (190.90) for us. His consistency with the bat in almost every game makes him a match-winner. Though he didn’t get to bat in the previous game he rolled over his arm and picked two wickets.

A strong bowling core:

Khaleel Ahmed has scalped 10 wickets in IPL 2024 and hasn’t gone wicketless in any match. He is superb in the Powerplay overs and has been our frontline bowler in the first half of the season so far. He is the only bowler to bowl two maiden overs which speaks volumes about his form with the ball.

Mukesh Kumar who was our leading wicket-taker in the previous game has clinched eight wickets in four matches. His performance in the last game was also the best outing for our bowler in an innings this season. He would be expected to fire on all cylinders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Though Kuldeep went wicketless in the previous match he maintained pressure from one end and conceded only 16 runs in his four overs. Kuldeep has picked six wickets in four matches. He has been one of the wicket-taking options for the skipper who loves to take on challenges.

Ishant Sharma is the most experienced campaigner in our bowling lineup and has six wickets to his tally. He would be excited to return to his home ground in Delhi. He would be hoping to get his experience into play and add good value to the side.

Key Battles in Delhi:

Rishabh Pant vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Captain Rishabh Pant gets his destruction mode on whenever he is up against Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The left hand batter has scored 79 runs against him in 33 balls. Pant’s strike rate is 239.39 against Bhuvneshwar and he has been dismissed only once by the pacer.

Prithvi Shaw vs Jaydev Unadkat

Our opener, Prithvi Shaw likes to get a move on against the pacers in the Powerplay overs and it would be an interesting battle when he will face Jaydev Unadkat. Shaw has scored 34 runs off 17 deliveries against Unadkat.

Axar Patel vs Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek has faced Axar in three matches and he has been seen in trouble while facing our left arm spinner. Axar has dismissed the SRH opener twice. Hence, we can expect this to be a matchup to watch out for.
