Despite the many glorious moments that we experienced in this edition, it wasn’t meant to be for the Delhi Capitals. Our playoff ambitions ended with a defeat to Mumbai Indians in our last match.
In our final outing of the TATA IPL 2025 season, we face the Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. We currently have 13 points in 13 matches, and a victory on Saturday will confirm a fifth-place finish for us.
While the batting performance wasn’t very memorable in our last match against MI, the bowlers had a decent outing, barring two forgettable overs in the end. Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav took the onus on themselves brilliantly in the absence of Axar Patel and conceded only 47 runs in eight overs together.
KL Rahul, our leading run-scorer this season, once again surpassed the 500-run mark in an IPL campaign. This marks the seventh instance in his career - a milestone previously achieved only by David Warner and Virat Kohli.
While the target may appear distant, KL Rahul requires 96 runs in the final match to become the first player in IPL history to score 600 or more runs in five separate seasons. Given his consistent form this year, the milestone remains well within reach.
Tristan Stubbs has been another top performer for us in 2025. Taking up a difficult role batting in the death, Stubbsy smashed 282 runs at a strike-rate of 152.44, which included some memorable finishes for us.
Youngsters Vipraj and Ashutosh Sharma have chipped in with big performances whenever they have had chances, promising something big for the upcoming season.
Our opponents for Saturday, the Punjab Kings, have made it to the playoffs already and are eying a top-two finish. They have accumulated 17 points in 12 matches so far.
This season has been a story of highs, lows, and lessons. With one last opportunity to showcase our grit, the team is ready to leave everything on the field in pursuit of a memorable finish.
