New Delhi, 28 January 2026: Vadodara witnessed a nail-biting thriller as our clash against the Gujarat Giants went right down to the last over. With a fearless chase and performances full of heart, we pushed till the very end but fell just short.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, we looked to make early inroads and contain a batting line-up brimming with firepower. When Gujarat’s batters began to build momentum, Sree Charani broke the partnership and applied the brakes on the run flow. Charani was the pick of our bowlers, claiming four wickets and finishing with impressive figures of 4/31.

Chasing a challenging target of 175, our innings got off to a flying start as Shafali came out with intent, smashing 26 runs in the first two overs. We surged to 51 in the powerplay, keeping our eyes firmly on the target.

However, the Giants’ spinners struck at crucial moments to slow our momentum and pick up wickets, until Niki Prasad walked in and turned the tide. Alongside Sneh Rana, she showed remarkable composure and courage, stitching together a fighting partnership of 70 runs that brought us right back into the contest. With 43 runs coming off the 18th and 19th overs, Niki and Sneh were left needing just nine runs from the final over.

Unfortunately, fate was not in our corner tonight, and we fell agonisingly short by just three runs. Yet, beyond the result, our girls displayed immense grit, belief and character, a performance that truly reflects the spirit of this team.

We now turn our focus to our final league game of the season against the UP Warriorz on Sunday, 1st February.
