GT vs DC | Delhi Capitals eye back-to-back wins in IPL 2024

After claiming their second win of IPL 2024 last time out, Delhi Capitals will be up against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, starting at 7:30 PM IST. The team will aim to make it consecutive wins in a bid to propel up the points table.

Head Coach Ricky Ponting is confident that the team can build on the momentum from our last win in Lucknow.

The power-packed openers:

The opening pair of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw have been in superb touch. We can expect them to give us an explosive start at the top.

Warner is our third-highest run scorer with 166 runs. He can anchor the innings and, later, up the ante.

Meanwhile, Shaw is just a little behind with 151 runs. He is getting good starts and wants to convert those knocks into the big ones in the upcoming games.

Reliability in the middle order:

Captain Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs have stitched a few solid partnerships and helped us get out of trouble and take us to a strong total on the board.

Pant is our run-scorer chart with 194 runs and an amazing strike rate of 157.72. His presence in the middle is important to navigate the best that the opposition camp has to offer.

Stubbs, meanwhile, is only five runs behind his captain. Though he is playing his first IPL season for the Capitals, Stubbs has become the backbone of our batting lineup. With a strike rate of 190.90, he has the best strike rate, which speaks volumes about his fearless approach.

Jake Fraser-Mcgurk, on the other hand, had a debut to remember in our game against Lucknow Super Giants. He showed great maturity and dominated the bowlers. He proved his mettle in the side after clearing the big boundaries in BRSABV Ekana with ease.

Left-arm Specialists:

Khaleel Ahmed is in prime form and has been our leading wicket-taker this season. He has picked 9 wickets in 6 matches and features at the fifth spot in the purple cap race.

Kuldeep Yadav, who made a comeback in the previous game, ended up bagging the Player of the Match award. He is the second-best in the bowling department with 6 wickets. Kuldeep is one of the go-to bowlers for the captain because he doesn’t just pick wickets but also stops the flow of runs.

Key Battles in Ahmedabad:

Khaleel Ahmed vs Shubman Gill

Our leading wicket-taker Khaleel has troubled Gujarat Titans skipper, Shubman Gill, in the past and has dismissed him twice. With the kind of form Khaleel has been in, it would be interesting to see this battle at the top.

David Warner vs Mohit Sharma

The southpaw David Warner likes to bat against Mohit Sharma. Warner has faced 48 deliveries from Mohit and has scored 90 runs. He also has an excellent strike rate of 187.50 against the Gujarat Titans’ leading wicket-taker.

Rishabh Pant vs Umesh Yadav

We can expect another mouth-watering contest when skipper Rishabh Pant, who has been in top form this season, will be up against Umesh Yadav. Pant has scored 39 runs off 16 deliveries against Umesh. He has a blistering strike rate of 243.75 against the pacer.
