After an exhilarating 6 wicket win on Wednesday away to the Lucknow Super Giants, the Delhi Capitals now turn their attention to their first home game of their season against the Mumbai Indians. The match will see the Capitals return to the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

Delhi pulled off a brilliant victory in their first game of the season, courtesy of Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubb’s sublime batting, who recovered the innings from 26-4 to guide the team home. The match also saw Lungi Ngidi and T. Natarajan pick up their first wickets in DC colours.

In the last five encounters, the Mumbai Indians hold a narrow edge, winning three matches to Delhi Capitals’ two. The Capitals will be determined to equal their record against Mumbai.

Given DC’s impressive bowling in the first game, Lungi Ngidi and Natarajan will once again be under the spotlight, especially with their deadly slower balls and cutters against a powerful MI lineup. Axar and Kuldeep will also be critical to Delhi’s success against batters such as Rohit Sharma who has historically had a poor record against Axar, being dismissed 15 times in the IPL against the left-arm spinner.

KL Rahul has scored a staggering 976 runs against the Mumbai Indians, more than he has against any other team in the IPL. He also boasts of a breathtaking average of 69.71 and has scored 3 centuries versus them. Tristan Stubbs is also coming off a good start to the season and will play a key role in helping the Capitals put on a strong performance with the bat.

With momentum on their side and the familiarity of home conditions at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the Delhi Capitals will view this as an opportunity to set the tone early, even as the Mumbai Indians pose a formidable challenge. If Delhi can execute their plans across key phases, this contest could well tilt in their favour.
