TATA IPL 2023 was a trying season for our Tigers.

A tough start to the campaign

Despite our best efforts under new captain David Warner, we could not come up with a win in our first five games, leaving us with a huge mountain to climb if we were to make it to the top four at the end of the league stage.

A brilliant comeback

The team stayed united in the face of adversity, with every player giving it all to ensure we bounce back from the early losses.

We worked hard despite the initial setbacks and put together a string of impressive performances, pulling off four wins in the next five matches.

Strong support from DC Toli

The comeback reignited our campaign but the season was made special, thanks in no small part to the overwhelming encouragement we received across mediums.

Whether it was cheering the team during home games or motivating the team through social media, the fans buoyed the team with their appreciation and creativity. Seeing the fans so passionate made the team feel proud and special.

Positives from IPL 2023

David Warner’s homecoming, as a batter, was fruitful for the team. He was consistent at the top and scored impressive 516 runs at an average of 36.16.

He scored six half centuries and was our top scorer this season. His best knock of 86 from 58 balls came against CSK in our final match of the league.

Ishant leads mid-season revival

Another star to impress in DC colours was Ishant Sharma. The fast bowler played a pivotal role in the mid-season revival.

He played his first match of the season against Kolkata Knight Riders in Delhi and took home the Player of the Match award for finishing with 2/19. It was also our first win of the tournament. He ended IPL 2023 with ten wickets in eight matches and was the pick of our pacers this season.

Khaleel Ahmed also impressed with his accuracy and consistently provided the team the early breakthroughs in the powerplay. He picked nine wickets from as many matches.

Mitchell Marsh picked up 12 wickets and was our leading wicket-taker this tournament. His best of 4/27 came against Sunrisers in our eighth match of the season

Bapu’s all-round capabilities

The biggest positive for us this season was the performance of Axar Patel. His primary responsibility was bowling left-arm spin but such was his form with the bat this season that he was our second-highest run-scorer only behind Warner. Axar scored 283 runs at a strike rate of nearly 140 and picked up 11 wickets at an economy of 7.19.

Bapu’s 22-ball fifty against Mumbai Indians was the fifth-fastest half-century by a DC batter.

What next for us?

It's time to go back to the drawing board and start planning for the next season. We will surely reassess the season, review our successes and failures and identify areas of improvement. One thing is for sure, we will be back stronger than before, like always.

So, stay connected with us on our social media platforms and be a part of our ever-growing community.
