LSG vs DC | Delhi Capitals face the Lucknowi Test on Friday

Delhi Capitals will be taking the field against neighbours, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow at 7:30 PM IST. Rishabh Pant and Co. will aim for their second win of IPL 2024 in the City of Nawabs.

Ahead of the important clash, South African speedster Lizaad Williams was announced as a replacement for England’s Harry Brook.

The Protea pacer has joined the squad in Lucknow and he is seen training in full swing.

Our Head Coach, Ricky Ponting spoke about the positives after our defeat in the last game and rallied for a better team performance against LSG.

Players to watch out for:

Tristan Stubbs:

A young rising star, Tristan Stubbs has shown incredible maturity and capitalised on his opportunities with the bat. The power hitter has amassed 174 runs in five matches at an average of 58. He has been fabulous in high-pressure situations and is scoring at a blistering strike rate of 193.33. Stubbs’ strike rate, meanwhile, goes up to 265 in the death overs which is the best for any batter in this edition of the IPL.

Courtesy of his amazing exploits on the pitch, fans have coined a new nickname ‘TriStorm’ for Stubbs.

David Warner:

David Warner has been in sublime form this campaign, giving solid starts atop. The southpaw has been playing risk-free cricket off late and scores at a decent rate. He has added 158 runs, including a fifty against Chennai Super Kings in Vizag.

Rishabh Pant:

Rishabh Pant’s comeback has solidified the middle order, thanks to his consistent run-scoring. The skipper is the third top scorer for the team in IPL 2024 with 153 runs. Pant has slammed two fifties in five matches and is known for his match-winning abilities.

Khaleel Ahmed:

Khaleel Ahmed has been our in-form bowler with a knack for picking wickets upfront and the second-best economy (6.9 RPO) in the powerplay. He has bagged seven wickets in IPL 2024 and is our leading wicket-taker. The left-arm pacer is among the three bowlers who have bowled a maiden over this season.

Key Battles in Lucknow:

David Warner vs Krunal Pandya

Our opener, David Warner has been in brilliant form at the top and he likes to take on the spinners. His batting against Krunal Pandya is no exception. Warner has scored 39 runs in 26 balls against Krunal. The Aussie is yet to be dismissed by Krunal and we hope that he maintains his record in the upcoming game.

Axar Patel vs KL Rahul

Axar Patel has been our leading spinner in the absence of Kuldeep Yadav. He has the upper hand over LSG’s skipper, KL Rahul. The left-arm orthodox spinner has kept things quiet and has conceded only 22 runs in the 34 balls he has bowled to Rahul. He has also dismissed Rahul twice in the five innings they’ve been up against each other.

Anrich Nortje vs Devdutt Padikkal

Our pacer, Anrich Nortje has been effective with the ball against LSG’s batter, Devdutt Padikkal. He has conceded 17 runs in the 11 balls he has bowled to Padikkal, while the LSG batter has fallen prey to Nortje thrice. We can expect this to be an interesting matchup in the middle overs.
