Rain ended the proceedings in Hyderabad on Monday, 5 May, with the match called off after the first innings. Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad were awarded a point each from the abandoned fixture at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

The first innings progressed as per the schedule after Pat Cummins won the toss and sent us in to bat first.

The home team got off to an impressive start, led by their captain, Cummins. We lost four wickets in the Powerplay on a tricky wicket. Tristan Stubbs, who walked at No.6, held one end strongly and ensured the scorecard kept ticking.

Stubbs first built a steady partnership with Vipraj Nigam, the duo contributing 33 runs for the side. Vipraj played a proactive role in the stand, taking on Zeeshan Ansari with two boundaries, including a well-struck six over mid-wicket.

An unfortunate run-out saw Vipraj’s promising knock come to an end, but our Impact Player Ashutosh Sharma once again delivered a solid knock at a critical juncture. While Stubbs kept rotating the strike, Ashutosh took his chances and bettered our scoring rate.

His knock began with two sixes off leg-spinner Ansari in the 15th over and followed it up with two boundaries off Harshal Patel in the 17th over. Stubbs joined the party with two fours in the following over as the partnership hit the 50 mark.

Although Ashutosh was dismissed for a well-made 41 off 26 balls in the final over, Stubbs finished the innings with a boundary to help us score 133/7 in 20 overs. No further play was possible after the conclusion of the first innings, as persistent rain brought the match to a premature end.

The match was eventually called off with both sides sharing a point. We move next to Dharamshala to face the Punjab Kings on 8 May.
