New Delhi, January 24, 2026: The Delhi Capitals continued their unstoppable run in the WPL, cruising to a 7-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru and breaking their opponent’s winning streak. With almost five overs to spare, our girls showcased brilliance with both bat and ball in what turned out to be the lowest-scoring game of the season.
After winning the toss, our DC side chose to bowl first on a fresh Vadodara wicket, and our bowlers immediately made their mark. Kapp continued her brilliance in the powerplay, picking up the crucial wicket of Grace Harris, aided by a marvelous catch from Laura. From there, our bowlers showcased their skill and dominance.
The match turned in our favour when Smriti Mandhana fell to Minnu Mani. From that point on, our bowlers piled on the pressure, taking the last eight RCB wickets for just 42 runs. Chinelle, Sree, Mani, and Kapp took two wickets each, while Nandni stole the show with 3/26 from her four overs to become the new Purple Cap holder.
After a stellar bowling effort, we bowled out RCB for 109 runs, leaving us to chase 110 to move up to second position. Shafali got us off to a flying start, scoring three boundaries off Lauren Bell in the first over.
Jemimah and Laura then held down the fort, guiding us toward our third win of the season with a fifty-run partnership. Our two Protean stars, Laura and Kapp, added the finishing touches to a dominant victory.
This was a statement win from our girls. Their performance radiated confidence, which will carry us through the last two fixtures as we aim to book our ticket to the playoffs.
We now look forward to our next game on Tuesday, 24th January, against the Gujarat Giants as we aim to make it three wins in a row.
