For the first time this Dream11 IPL, the Delhi Capitals have lost back-to-back matches. They had an off day at office against the Knight Riders and would want to leave that loss behind. They come into this fixture having tasted defeat in the first leg against Sunrisers Hyderabad. All is not lost though and there is no need to press the panic button. The Capitals still occupy the second spot in the table, courtesy, Mumbai and Bangalore dropping points during the weekend.
We move into the final week of the league stage and apart from the Super Kings all other teams have a chance to book their playoffs ticket. Ricky Ponting had said he wants his team to play their best cricket in the second half of the tournament and the boys will surely want to do him proud. With match-winners in plenty, the men in blue just require a spark from someone to lift up their spirits.
Bowling you over
The speedy pacers in the name of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje are stamping their authority in every single game. The duo are bowling with fire and consistently grabbing wickets in the Powerplay. DC are one of the best bowling teams with the field restrictions in place. Ashwin and Axar’s ability to suffocate and snatch wickets in the first six overs are a blessing. With SRH heavily dependent on their top three batters, it will be pivotal for our bowlers to weave their magic yet again. Rashid Khan’s splendid spell won Hyderabad the points last time they clashed and the swing and pace of other fast bowlers could also pose a few problems if not dealt with tactfully.
Stat Attack
- Rishabh Pant needs 47 runs to complete 2000 IPL runs.
- Shimron Hetmyer needs 14 runs to complete 1500 T20 runs.
- Harshal Patel needs 2 wickets to complete 100 T20 wickets.

Key Battles
Nortje vs Pandey
Manish Pandey provides stability in the middle order for SRH and has it in him to shift gears on his will. It will be important for Nortje and co. to get him out and put pressure on the lesser experienced middle order.
Rashid vs Iyer
Most teams plan to play out Rashid Khan because the Afghan spinner can turn games on single handedly. It will be interesting to see what role the leg-break bowler has in Dubai. Shreyas Iyer and his boys are wary of his threat and will certainly have a plan against him.
A win today, takes us one step closer to the playoffs with 16 points often being dubbed as virtual qualification points. With both teams vying for a much needed win, this is one clash we can’t wait to see unravel tomorrow in Dubai!
