Junior Dala Replaces Injured Chris Morris at DD

An unfortunate injury to Chris Morris has forced him out of the VIVO IPL 2018. DD has roped in South African speedster Junior Dala to replace his fellow countryman.

The right-arm pacer came into the spotlight during the recently concluded T20I series against India. Dala was extremely impressive with the ball and he gave wholehearted performances every time he stepped onto the field.

In the three T20I matches he has played so far for the Proteas, he has claimed seven wickets at 15.71 apiece. Though South Africa lost the series, he caught the attention of the cricketing fraternity with his impressive line, length and pace. He is an animated character who works hard and is extremely committed to the game. He will be an exciting addition to the DD squad.

Dala plays for the Titans in South Africa’s domestic cricket. Coach Mark Boucher and teammate Albie Morkel have always encouraged him to bowl quick and look for wickets. He has a remarkable record in domestic T20s. He has taken 49 wickets in 52 matches at an average of 25 and an economy rate of 8.2. Dala's pace and accuracy will be a great asset for DD and it will be of significant use in the death overs.

In a recent interview Dala had stressed on the importance of bowling quick. “There is no substitute for pace, that's one thing. And it doesn't matter what format you play, if you bowl at 140 kmph, it will always put something at the back of the batter's mind.”

His words reflect his nature – positive and aggressive. It is no wonder that his new coach found him fit for the DD squad.
