Of the Guyanese pair, the world is more acquainted with Keemo Mandela Angus Paul. At 20, he has appeared in 26 international matches for WIndies. Keemo has within him the DNA of a typical WIndies limited-overs specialist – his consistent speed combined with his ability to swing the bat hard makes him an apt choice in a league such as IPL. Right when Delhi Capitals picked him in the IPL auctions, he was busy helping his team pull off a 2-1 in the T20Is against Bangladesh at the latter’s home. Keemo was one of the key players in the series, scoring 59 runs at 178.78 and picking up 7 wickets, including a fifer. The comparable subcontinental conditions of Bangladesh and India, and Keemo’s ability to play comfortably in the same proves he will be an asset in the upcoming IPL!
Sherfane Eviston Rutherford, the other of the pair, has had a fruitful domestic season back home, but what sets him apart from his peers is his performance in the recent T10 League and before that, in Caribbean Premier League. His 13-ball 45 for Guyana Amazon Warriors, which included four huge sixes off Dwayne Bravo, took the side to a comfortable victory. Another of his remarkable knock has to be his 46 off 21 in Bengal Tigers’ victory over Maratha Arabians. Against a Rashid Khan-James Faulkner-Dwayne Bravo strong bowling, Sherfane dared to pull off 6 sixes as he ensured the third place for his team. He made his international debut in the same T20I series against Bangladesh.
