Training and Shoots: DD in the Week Going into the VIVO IPL

With Gautam Gambhir and Ricky Ponting at the helm of affairs, the Delhi boys are sweating it out at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

‘Punter’, who is regarded as one of the greatest batsman of all time, is mentoring the young guns of Delhi and it is a great opportunity for them to master and hone their skills. The essence of this team lies in the dynamic leadership of Gambhir coupled with Ponting’s sharp cricketing acumen.

A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work, and the Delhi lads are leaving no stone unturned to achieve this. A few extended fielding and team bonding sessions were initially the focus to get the team to gel and forge a bond for which DD has been known over the years. Ideal gym workouts according to the players’ roles have also been a focus in the week going into the season.

Ponting has a style of his own, and his aggressive approach makes him stand out in whatever he does. It has just been a few days since Punter has taken over as the head coach of DD and the young players are in awe of this talisman. With an eye on the young stars in the nets, and a word of advice for all, Ricky Ponting has taken complete charge. Yet, he lets the players express their freedom.

The youngsters hold Ponting in high regard and look up to him as a source of inspiration. "He's very aggressive and has a positive frame of mind. When he gave a speech to all of us on the first day, it gave us goosebumps. His frame of mind was naturally about winning,” said Shreyas Iyer.

But, the intense training is not all that the DD members have been up to in the past week. Juggling between training and professional commitments can be a tough task, but with our ever-smiling players, the job becomes fun. Photoshoots for Daikin and Nerolac Paints promptly became occasions for some fun and laughter. Our very own Mishi bhai led the team on that front!

The team also didn’t miss the opportunity to hang out as a unit and explore the charm of ‘Dilwalon Ki Dilli’, and went out for dinner with our CEO, Mr. Hemant Dua.

With the VIVO IPL just a few days away, the Dilli Boys are all geared up to take to the field and put their daredevilry at display!
