Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore: Chance to complete the double

Three wins in four games! It has been an impressive start to our inaugural TATA WPL season. Meg Lanning and Co. bounced back after the setback against Mumbai Indians to convincingly beat Gujarat Giants by 10 wickets in the last match.

With our eyes all set on a top-three finish, we take on RCB once again, with the aim to repeat the result from our season opener.

We were entirely in charge of the match on Saturday against the Giants. After being asked to bowl first, Marizanne Kapp went through the opposition's batting lineup in a flash, with her match bowling figures being 4-0-15-5~

Meanwhile, Shikha Pandey seared through the lower order as we restricted the GG innings at 105/9.

In the run chase, our openers Shafali Verma and skipper Meg Lanning spared no thought for the opposition. The opening duo smashed the highest powerplay score in the TATA WPL. They got the job done rather quickly as we won by 10 wickets with 77 balls to spare!

A happy Shafali Verma took us through her whirlwind innings at the DY Patil Sports Academy.

DC vs RCB: Round Two!

We cannot wait to take on RCB for the second time this season. In our season opener, our girls pulled off a sensational 60-run win against the Mandhana-led side. While Shafali and Lanning scored fifties, each, in that match, Tara Norris grabbed the headlines with a five-fer.

Meanwhile, RCB has lost four matches on the bounce and is currently fifth in the TATA WPL points table. We, on the other hand, have collected six points so far.

The DC Toli has flocked to the stadium in massive numbers to support us. We hope to see you again on Monday!

We can’t wait for:

Shafali Verma’s fireworks:

With two half-centuries in four matches, Shafali Verma has showcased her potential in the TATA WPL. She has amassed 179 runs, while striking at a mammoth rate of 192.47, to firmly push her name in the running for the Orange Cap.

We cannot wait to see what Shifu has in store against RCB this time.

Meg-Shifu rampage:

We cannot get over how awesome Lanning and Shafali have been opening the batting. The duo raised a 162-run stand in the previous encounter against RCB. Meanwhile, our stellar pair smashed another century partnership in the last match.

Considering how influential Lanning-Shafali has been in the powerplay, swelling the score with ease, they will be key in sealing out the second W against the Bangalore side.

A Kapp-tastic surge:

Marizanne Kapp has significantly chipped in with bat and ball. Our Protea seamer has picked up six wickets so far this season, including her stunning five-wicket haul last time out against Gujarat.

She has also contributed to the scoring with crucial boundaries in the death overs. Her all-round abilities make her our go-to player on Monday.

All about the matchups!

Radha Yadav vs Smriti Mandhana

Smriti Mandhana has been a shadow of herself in TATA WPL 2023. The RCB skipper has been dismissed at an underwhelming score in all four matches. Notably, all four dismissals were against spinners.

Radha Yadav bowled impressively against Gujarat last time out. Our left-arm spinner could cause problems for Mandhana with her variations. She would also play a key role in controlling the RCB score in the powerplay.

Shafali Verma vs Renuka Singh

The power-hitting of Shafali against the swing and control of Renuka will be a fascinating watch.

Our fiery opener scored 84 off 45 against RCB last time out, wherein her scoring rate against RCB’s premier pacer in Renuka was vital. Once again, Shafali winning the battle against Renuka will go a long way towards our success.

Tara Norris vs Ellyse Perry

Ellyse Perry was Tara Norris’ first scalp in the TATA WPL. Our American seamer troubled Perry with her angles and pace in the previous meeting. She went on to take five wickets that day.

Norris, once again, would have her game plan ready to tackle Perry. With 128 runs in four games, the Aussie all-rounder is RCB’s leading run-getter this season. It makes pricing her wicket early even further important on Monday.

Btw, she can groove on the desi music too!
