The Capitals Aim for a Comeback in the Northern Derby

After a disappointing night in the Wankhede, the DC Tigers are ready to roar against the Lions of Punjab, who are also recovering from a defeat. It will be a fiercely competitive game as both the teams are stacked with talent and look for one more game to turn things around and boost the team morale. Both the teams are separated by only 2 points on the table.

After a venue change considering the recent positive cases, the DC Men in Blue are all pumped to be back at their favorite Brabourne Stadium, where we have won two out of two matches played.

The skipper Rishabh Pant looks at this game as the perfect opportunity to rectify things and start peaking at the right time.

Up Against Friends and Old Teammates

Shaw and Gabbar had formed a formidable opening partnership over the years at Delhi Capitals, while Rabada was the spearhead, also earning the Purple Cap on one occasion.

It will be Gabbar and KG, former DC stars against the new DC squad on the night. Both have been doing exceptionally well for their new franchise, with Dhawan providing smooth and solid starts to their innings and Rabada being effective with the ball in multiple phases of the game.

There will be some brotherly love, but also some really fierce competition when the Capitals face these friends and former teammates in the Northern Derby.

Stat Attack

David Warner has had a great start to the IPL 2022 with two back-to-back half-centuries in the last couple of outings. A score of 55 runs or more in this game will make him the 1st overseas batsman to score 1000 runs against Punjab Kings.

Kuldeep Yadav has been the lead bowler for the DC boys this season. With 11 wickets in 5 innings, the left-arm unorthodox bowler has been exceptional, making him a potential contender for Purple Cap this season.

Prithvi Shaw has been explosive up top as always, and he finds himself 19 runs away from the milestone of 1500 IPL and 38 runs away from 2000 T20 runs.

Bapu, with his all-round performance and capabilities, has become an integral member of the team over the years. This season, coming down the order, he has been hitting a few out of the park in the death. Two more maximums and he will complete 50 IPL sixes. He also needs just 3 more wickets to complete 150 T20 wickets.

Key Battles

Warner vs Rabada

It will be an interesting contest between the two with the new ball as both look in a great rhythm. In the past 7 encounters, Rabada has dismissed Warner 3 times and the latter has scored with a strike rate of 156, which tells it will be a must-watch battle in the powerplay which could go either way.

Gabbar vs Kuldeep

Kuldeep has made it a habit of taking big wickets and in this game, he will be targeting former DC and current Punjab opener Dhawan. Records suggest Kuldeep has dismissed Dhawan twice in the last 6 innings and has also managed to keep his strike rate under 100, giving away only 34 runs in 37 balls.

Pantastic vs Chahar

An important battle in the middle overs, Pant will be facing the leading wicket-taker of Punjab Kings. His googlies have been very effective against left-handed batsmen and he will want to trouble our attacking skipper with just that, who will be looking for big ones with the tweaker in operation.
